Welcome!

“To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past… and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America… with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

Those words introduced the world to a magical land of Walt Disney. Its credo has continued to shape the world of Disney fans in years to come; a world of nostalgia and innovation blending together to create new magic, new memories. Such has been the ways of many podcasts dedicated to Disney. Each one brings a one-of-a-kind perspective steeped in personal experience, contemporary analysis, and the joy of sharing one’s thoughts with another.

Here at The Three CommentEARS, we strive to bring something new to the Disney table. We wish to bring the mysticism and the realities of Disney movies to listeners in new and insightful ways. By combining our love of films with our love of Disney, we take a look at how Disney films have not only been made, but how it’s shaped our culture. We look towards our past in order to determine a future. The Three CommentEARS allows listeners to have a shared experience with like-minded fans, to understand why we love (or sometimes are apathetic to) particular Disney films. If we do our job right, it is our hope that listeners will come away from our commentaries with a more enlightened and enhanced appreciation for the films in question: films they already love, learn to love, or are challenged for loving.

Of course, these commentaries will not relate solely to Disney. Yes, Disney is our primary focus. But the lure of film extends beyond the legacy of Walt Disney Studios. Film from the Golden Age of Hollywood have stories to tell, people to remember, and memories to revisit. As such, listeners can take an occasional visit to The Dreamers of Dreams. Here, we discuss non-Disney films with the same thorough research, critical analysis, and loving memories as our Disney films. By cross-connecting our love of Disney with our appreciation for Hollywood’s Golden Age (and beyond), the Dream Factory truly comes alive.

For the more traditional podcast listener, we also offer Something to Think About. Within this section, we provide an extended examination of key issues or themes from our commentaries. This allows us to generate more fruitful discussion without the time-and-scene constraints that the nature of audio commentaries bring.

Finally, we have our most personal section, A Matter of Life and Disney. Unlike our audio commentaries and podcasts, here one may find series of short essays and/or videos which examine the effect of Disney within one’s life, touching upon how various aspects of the studio’s output has affected people in different ways based on different experiences.

Much like Walt himself believed that his endeavours brought joy and happiness to the world, we hope that our content will help listeners appreciate Disney beyond technical achievements and pop culture legacy.  Disney has shaped us in ways that allow us to see the world through a different kind of lens; we hope to share this experience with our listeners.  To learn more about us, please visit our Meet the CommentEARS Page.
